Medical Conditions


Heart and Lungs diseases:

Cardiac disease, pneumonia, bronchitis and emphysema.         

Signs - decrease stamina, coughing, difficulty breathing. pot belly.

If left untreated will progress to renal and liver disease, vascular profusion and eventual death                                 

Teeth:

Periodontal disease, gingivitis, cancer

Signs - bad breath, redness or swelling of gums, oral masses

If left untreated can lead to tooth loss, heart disease, kidney or liver disorder, systemic infection of cancer.
Liver:

Inflammation, degenerative and cancerous liver disease.

Signs - Decreased appetite, weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, increased thirst/urination.

If left untreated you pet may experience hypoalbuminemia, anemia, bleeding disorders and liver failure.
Kidney:

Kidney failure, kidney stones, kidney infection or kidney insufficiencies.

Signs - Increased thirst/urination, decreased appetite, weight loss, vomiting and back pain.

If left untreated will progress to kidney failure, heart disease, fluid balance disturbance and eventually death.
Joints:

Arthritis, hip dysplasia, and back disease.

Signs - Lameness, reluctance to walk or exercise, decreased appetite, discomfort/pain.

If left untreated can lead to progressive disease, reduced mobility and neurological deficits.
Endocrine System:

Diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, Addison's disease, Cushing's disease.

Signs - Noticeable weight change, increased appetite without weight gain, vomiting, increased water intake, vomiting, frequent urination and change in energy level.

If left untreated can cause heart failure, kidney failure and secondary metabolic disease.
Occular

Cataracts, dry eye and glaucoma.

Signs - Gray, bluish hue in the center of the eye, rubbing, pressing head against objects, swelling, redness, irritation and tearing.

If left untreated can lead to difficulty seeing, corneal ulceration, progress to blindness and loss of eye.
Gastrointestinal

Inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, cancer and colitis.

Signs - vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss and fluid gain.

If left untreated your pet will have further weight loss and will progress to potential death.
